Breadcrumb
Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer Summer Day Camp is a co-ed program open to campers in rising grades 1 – 8. Day Camp will operate Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and transportation is available. Our Day Camp is primarily open to families living in Pamlico County and spaces are offered to neighboring counties as well.
Campers can connect with new friends, discover new activities and make memories that will last a lifetime. Through sports, swimming, crafts and fun games, our counselors teach lessons that promote our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, all while having fun and ensuring a safe environment for your children.

Campers are placed in Huddle Groups of 10 - 12 campers. Children remain in their huddle throughout the day with at least one staff member per huddle. Huddles participate in a variety of activities including archery, riflery, fishing, canoeing, huddle games, athletics, tennis, creative arts and swim time. Huddles rotate through activities to ensure all campers can participate.

Bus transportation is available to and from certain locations in Pamlico County including Reelsboro, Bayboro and Oriental.
Day Camp CILT Program
The Day Campers in Leadership Training (CILT) Program is designed for campers in rising grades 9–10 who are ready to take the next step in leadership within a fun, supportive Camp environment. This program is ideal for teens who demonstrate responsibility, initiative and a desire to work with younger campers while continuing to enjoy all that Day Camp has to offer.
The Day Camp CILT program provides structured opportunities to develop leadership and basic job skills while encouraging campers to spend meaningful time outdoors, build strong relationships and grow in confidence. At a time when technology increasingly fills teens’ schedules, the Day Camp CILT experience emphasizes connection, responsibility and learning by doing.
What Day Camp CILTs Do:
Day Camp CILTs are a valued part of our Day Camp community. Throughout the three weeks of their session, they learn by observing, assisting and practicing leadership skills under the guidance of counselors and staff, all while continuing to enjoy the Day Camp experience as a camper.
Day Camp CILTs will:
Shadow counselors and learn best practices for working with children
Assist with and help lead activities, games and daily transitions
Support planning and preparation of age-appropriate programming
Set personal leadership goals and reflect on their growth throughout the session
Serve as a positive role model and mentor to younger campers
At no time is a Day Camp CILT left solely in charge of campers. Supervision and instruction are always provided by Camp staff, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
A Balance of Learning and Fun
The Day Camp CILT program is an experience-based learning model—one part structured leadership training, one part guided responsibility and a whole lot of fun. In addition to their leadership responsibilities, Day Camp CILTs continue to build friendships with peers and participate in activities that make Camp memorable.
By the end of the session, Day Camp CILTs leave with:
Increased confidence and independence
A stronger work ethic and sense of responsibility
Improved communication and teamwork skills
A deeper appreciation for time spent outdoors and in community
As CILTs are not paid staff members yet, they can earn more than 130 volunteer service hours for civic clubs, honor societies and organizations. Volunteer service hours are also a great addition to college applications.
The Day Camp CILT program serves as an important step in our leadership pathway and is a meaningful opportunity for teens who may be interested in future employment at Camp.
Application Process
Interested campers must apply to be considered to the Day Camp CILT program. Space is limited and acceptance is based on readiness, maturity and leadership potential. Day Camp CILTs must have previously attended Day Camp at SGSF as a camper to be considered for the CILT program.
