Hart’s Father, Bo Roberts introduced his son to Sea Gull at just six months old. As the child of a full-time Director who spent every summer at Camp, Hart was heavily influenced by the life lessons that his counselors and camper instilled over a 20-year period. As a professional storyteller passionate about marketing the brands he works with through his company Chair 8, Hart has the ability to come back to where he got his start each summer.
How has your profession allowed you to stay involved with Camp?
I fell in love with video storytelling after attending the 2007 Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. It taught me that every story has a beginning, middle, and end, but the most profound ones evoke emotion. I’d always been passionate about photography so transitioning to video was an exciting new adventure. In 2016, Brandon Blackman played a huge role in giving our team a chance, believing in our storytelling capabilities and letting us share the nostalgic moments, sights, sounds and emotions we all remember so well. From storyboarding the video on paper to pushing it live on YouTube, there are so many awesome emotions in making this piece.
What do you enjoy most about being involved in marketing the Camp experience?
Each year, we push ourselves to find unique ways of showcasing Camp’s nostalgic sights, sounds and memories. One of my favorite parts is when people from California, Canada, and even New Zealand say they came to Camp because they watched the video. Helping showcase Camp’s purpose worldwide is a huge honor.
What lessons or values from Camp do you still uphold today?
My biggest day-to-day takeaway is that relationships really are everything — in school, at work, with your family and more. Camp taught me that every relationship you have can teach you something, and by building stronger relationships with others, you’ll feel more supported AND supportive.
