At Sea Gull, Creative Arts doesn’t include ranks which makes it a participation activity.
Different projects are offered each day, and every week wheel-thrown pottery is offered. At Seafarer Creative Arts’ ranks start by teaching the basic elements of art. Then we teach principles of drawing, painting and color theory, printmaking, hand-build ceramics, and sculpture. We also teach wheel-thrown pottery and batiking.
Each week there is a new Artist of the Week or theme. For example, we will teach how to draw the proper proportions of a face while learning about the Renaissance portrait artist Raphael. We also make community based art projects such as a collaborative felting mural while learning about Mexican muralists like Diego Rivera.
The staff members say that they “have the privilege of teaching children how to make the world beautiful.”
