Camp Windward is Camp Seafarer's solution for remote school and work. Imagine your children attending remote school from a comfortable air-conditioned cabin on the beautiful Neuse River. You on the front porch with a laptop working from an Adirondack chair enjoying a calm breeze off the water.
This school year looks different and the YMCA of the Triangle wants to ensure that children have access to all of the opportunities they need to thrive in this new environment. Whether it is a safe and exciting adventure after class, a cool new space to learn digitally or an immersive experience on the Neuse River, the Y is committed to creating education-driven programs that enhance your child’s school experience. Not to mention parents need a change in scenery when working remotely!
So, come aboard - and bring your whole family! Camps Sea Gull and Seafarer provide the perfect setting for you to “work from home” and your child to successfully attend their remote classes. Once complete, head outdoors for fun camp activities.
During the day parents and students can work and/or attend school remotely. Then in the afternoon, spend time with our scheduled, staffed activities such as archery, canoeing, swimming, target sports, ziplines, kayaking and more. Plus all "self-serve" activities, such as basketball, tennis, golf, soccer, bike trails or fishing, are open all day. (please bring your own bikes and fishing gear)
After dinner, Camp staff will lead organized programs, such as campfires, night swims, outdoor movies and adventure hikes. All programs are optional and practice safe social distancing.
All meals are available for pickup from the dining hall and each cabin has a personal, charcoal grill.

ENSURING A SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT AT CAMP
Ensuring a safe summer will require a partnership among all of us. Our top priority is to keep our campers, families, and staff safe. In light of our current reality, we have elevated our medical protocols and practices using recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Camp Association (ACA), North Carolina State Health and Human Services, Pamlico County Health Department, and with guidance from our Camp Medical Advisory Committee.
Click here for an overview of our COVID-19 Medical Protocols and our Pre-Camp Health Assessment and Temperature Form. All family members will be required to bring their Health Assessment with them to Camp. As always, we will continue to monitor guidance from the CDC and the State of North Carolina. We recognize that COVID-19 guidelines will change as the landscape changes, and will adapt our programming and protocols accordingly.
Our program has been designed in accordance to state and local health regulations, CDC recommendations, and the ACA’s field guide for delivering overnight camps in the reality of COVID-19. As such, we will adhere to all state and local health department guidelines that are in place during programs including practicing social distancing, healthy hand hygiene practices and increased cleaning and sanitation protocols. We have extensive cleaning protocols both between and during sessions and provide hand sanitizer in the cabins and around Camp. That said, please feel free to bring any of your own cleaning supplies to use during your time with us.
