Transportation Information

NEW THIS YEAR! 
There are a few noteworthy changes to Transportation for Summer 2020
   

Transportation Registration:

ALL parents MUST complete a transportation registration through the Online Forms Portal for each camper to indicate how they will be arriving and departing Camp, EVEN if you are driving or providing your own transportation. 

Travel to/from Raleigh-Durham:

There will be no Airport Shuttle or Charter Bus service from Raleigh that travels to Camp on any Opening Days. There will be an airport shuttle that travels to Raleigh on Closing Days for First Session, Second Session, Mariners II and Mariners IV only. 

Important Deadlines:

Your Travel Registration must be completed through the Online Forms Portal by March 1, 2020.

Your Arrival/Departure Itinerary form for that includes travel details and contact persons for Opening and Closing days is due through the Online Forms Portal on June 1, 2020.

Driving to Camp is an option chosen by many parents to visit Camp and meet their child’s counselors. Other arrival and departure options are Camp-chartered buses and commercial airlines.

Camp Sea Gull is located at 218 Sea Gull Landing, Arapahoe, NC, 28510.

Chartered Buses

Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer offer chartered bus service home from Camp on the Closing Days for First and Second Session and Mariners II and IV. Buses transport campers to selected drop-off points for several major cities on the East Coast. 

Buses are equipped with restrooms and campers enjoy movies during the trip. Staff members from Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer supervise each bus.

Registration for commercial air transportation services needs to be completed through the Online Forms Portal.

Commercial Air 

Campers who wish to fly to Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer should arrive at Coastal Carolina Regional (EWN). Camp will provide transportation from the airport to Camp for all Camp sessions within the flight times outlined below. Transportation Forms must be submitted, with payment, before a camper can be scheduled for any Camp provided shuttle.

Campers who wish to be scheduled for an Airport Shuttle are also required to submit a flight itinerary, including a confirmation number and a copy of the receipt for payment for the Unaccompanied Minor Fee.

EWN (New Bern): Flight departure should be between 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., $50
RDU (Raleigh): Flight departure should be between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., $115

Opening Days: June 21, July 19

EWN (New Bern): Flight arrival times should be between 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., $50

Closing Days: July 3, July 31

EWN (New Bern): Flight departure times should be between 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., $50

Mariners II and IV
Opening Days: July 5, Aug. 2

EWN (New Bern): Flight arrival times should be between 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Closing Days: July 17, Aug. 14

EWN (New Bern): Flight departure should be between 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., $50

Private Transportation

Plane

Tidewater Air Services-FBO provides service for private air flights to New Bern and can be reached at (252) 633-1400.

Boat

The trip to Camp can be made via the Intracoastal Waterway in Oriental, NC, and then west up the Neuse River. Please notify the Camp Office if you plan to travel by boat.

Camp Seafarer's pier depth is four feet and maritime traffic is monitored on VHF channel 78.

Camp Sea Gull's pier depth is six feet and maritime traffic is monitored on VHF channel 68.

Luggage

Personal Transportation: Shipping luggage is optional.
You may choose to ship your child’s luggage from Camp via FedEx Ground. 
 
Charter Bus: Shipping luggage is required.
If your camper is taking a Charter Bus home from Camp on Closing Day (Session One, Session Two, Mariners I, Mariners IV), they are allowed one duffel/footlocker and one small carry-on item. Any additional luggage will be shipped from Camp via FedEx Ground. 
 
Commercial Air: Shipping luggage is required.
Campers on domestic flights will be allowed only one carry-on item only. 
All luggage except this carry-on item will be shipped. Camp is unable to check luggage at the airport.

Campers on international flights will have all of their luggage with them.

Shipped luggage will be sent on your camper’s Closing Day and may take up to one week to arrive back to you. Camp is not responsible for lost or damaged luggage during transit. The same rules for luggage amount apply when your camper both arrives at and departs from Camp.

Flat Fees
Home/Ground (1-5 business day delivery): $60/per piece

Express Saver (2-3 business day delivery): $120/per piece

Oversized Luggage via Home/Ground (1-5 business day delivery): $200-$400/piece

(Oversized: length is 130” plus girth and/or weighs over 70lbs)

If your child will be shipping luggage from Camp, the luggage shipment forms can be completed through the Online Forms Portal.
