Powerboating

Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer’s outboard powerboating fleet consists of 25-horsepower Scouts, 90 to 150-horsepower Sea Hunts, and 115-horsepower, 18-foot Parkers. We have a few Sea Ox and Pioneer outboards as well.

Campers begin learning on the Scouts in small groups and are always supervised by a Camp staff member who is US Powerboating Instructor trained. Campers first master the land and on-the-water drills for the US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification. Once they pass their on-the-water skills, campers take the classroom part that culminates in a written test. This certification serves as an NC boaters license and is recognized nationally including all states that require boaters licenses.

At this point in the Blue Book, campers move to learn how to handle center console boats and then our larger vessels and they choose a focus on skiing or fishing.
