YMCA Camp Sea Gull and YMCA Camp Seafarer

Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer is a unique host site for an Opti regatta because we offer a one-stop-shop for the sailing venue, a place to stay, a place to eat, airport transportation and coach/support boat charters. We also offer Opti charters for the Green Fleet sailors!

For a first-timer to Camp or for a first-timer to an Opti regatta, it can be a puzzle to make sure all your bases are covered. Here is all you need to know:


To sign up for the regatta, Championship or Green Fleet, complete online registration and pay all entry fees at

  • The entry fee is U.S. $110 if paid by September 5.
  • A late fee of U.S. $25 ($135 total) shall be paid for registrations completed September 6 through September 12.
  • An additional late fee of U.S. $25 ($160 total) shall be paid for registrations completed September 13 through 1200 hours EDT, September 19.
  • Registration will be closed September 19, 2017, at 1200 hours EDT.

Entry fees are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another USODA event. See the complete Notice of Race here. 


All participants must fill out a Site Registration Form regardless of whether they are staying overnight at Camp or just attending as a day participant.

The most cost-effective accommodation is to stay onsite at Camp Sea Gull.  Housing is in open-air cabins with a full bathroom and plenty of green space for enjoying a riverfront view. Wake up in the morning with your Opti and breakfast located 100 feet away. You can see our cabins and our virtual tour here

Early arrivals will be available on Thursday, September 21 by appointment. Friday, September 22 will include check-in for housing at Camp, a practice race, check-in for competitors and coach/support boat flags. Racing will be held on September 23 and 24 and will include a Green Fleet.

If a hotel or rental house is more comfortable, please see a list of area lodging. Note that many of these locations are a 20-30 minute drive from Camp. If you stay off-site you can purchase a meals and activities package at Camp through the Site Registration Form.


Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) in New Bern, N.C. is about 30 minutes from Camp Sea Gull. We have shuttles available for the airport upon request. These requests can be made on your Site Registration Form. 


Camp offers the Joy Boy II, a 65' spectator boat, as part of your registration form. If you want a personal boat you can bring your own or charter a boat locally.

All coach and support boats must register using the Support Boat Registration Form. Coach and Support boats must obtain a numbered flag supplied by the OA during check-in that must be displayed from a staff at all times on the water. A $20 deposit is required.  Each coach boat shall have a working VHF radio and monitor the radio, an anchor suitable for anchoring in the waiting area and a basic first aid kit.
